- We appeared in the locale paper on October 7, 2004:
Spanish students are visiting Peabody.
Peabody- Twenty students and two teachers from Colegio, San Agustin in Valladolid, Spain will be spending Oct. 4- 22 living with Peabody Veterans Memorial High School students and their families. The visitors will also attend extracurricular and community events and will be doing some sightseeing in local cities.
Last year, Peabody students visited Spain, and this marks the second half of that exchange.
The visit is being coordinated by Jeff Farris and Yvette Loscano- Henebury. Community members who seek more information may contact either teacher at the high school at (978) 536-4500.
- When arrived at the airport, we can´ t enter, because anybody had our address here. It was funny because all were very nervous. Nobody wanted leave to the airport, because the English students was there with placards with our names, it was a lack of control.
- The Saturday that we arrived, my American Studenttook me to the movie, and we saw “Shark Tale”, and when we were seeing it, I was sleeping, because I bear two days without sleeping, and in Spain was four o’clock to the morning, I was very tired.
- The Farewell Dinner was wonderful. All the people was great, and it was the last night with the Americans. The Mayor of Peabody gave ours a diploma, and the teachers a picture all together in the school.
Sports
My American student doesn’t do sports, but she is fan of the Yankees, and her father of The Red Sox, and they are doing bets, because its are the most important teams of baseball, the most important sport of Unites States. Yankees and Red Sox, play seven matches, and the winner was Red Sox, the team for Boston, Yankees is for New York. In school have pitch and the student play in it. All the Wednesdays were teams. A lot of students play too soccer, also is important.
